Bob Bunce and Rural Delivery

Influenced from folk, country, and roots rock, mixed with a cocktail of jazz and off beat improv, woven with a storytellers harmonized yarn, pontificating on life on the global farm and sprinkled with current social commentary, Bob Bunce and Rural Delivery  deliver the goods.

Their fall of 2019 shows feature songs from Rural Delivery’s 2019 CD release.

“The CD is titled “Mixed Messages”, though I am obliged to argue. Bob Bunce’s message throughout the tenure of Rural Delivery has been consistent. Bob’s lyrics universally mount a relentless battle against brooders and mopers. Even the most ironic metaphor, a backstreet cocktail, “Aspirin and Whiskey” becomes a celebration of being in one’s moment. A running theme, one should enjoy what one has, where one is and what stage of the game one is at. Take note of “Zero”, because it’s better than nothing: likewise, Rust and Moth.” Cm Barons

“I’ve always enjoyed Bob Bunce’s music, and salute his off-the-grid defiance flag he flies. He’s an affable dude with no pretense or animosity. On his new CD with Rural Delivery, “Mixed Messages”, he’s copped a bit of a sinister slant. I like it; yes, I do. I’m not saying he’s mean, but he has a coolness that few achieve or possess.”  Frank De Blase – City Newspaper

The “Dady Brothers” is a well-known and beloved name to folks in this area of the country. For the better part of the past 45 years it has been synonymous with great Irish and American Folk entertainment, as John and his brother Joe performed more than 7000 concerts from Alaska to Florida and from the Caribbean Islands to Ireland. Together, they produced 13 albums of their own and produced or performed on the productions of scores of artists including Pete Seeger’s final album, “The Storm King, Volume 2”.

They have been the recipients of numerous awards and recognitions, most notably the “Tommy Makem Scroll of Honor Award” presented to the brothers in Belfast in 2015.

Since Joe’s untimely death in May of 2019, John has continued to bring his unique blend of Irish and American Folk, and original compositions, to appreciative audiences young and old. He has recently been joined by a fine young musician, John Michael Ryan, on button accordion, tin whistle, and bodhran.

John Michael Ryan

Growing up in the busy Irish music community in Rochester, New York, Ryan cut his teeth as a young teenager playing tin whistle and bodhran in the city’s many traditional jam sessions, absorbing countless tunes from Clareman O’Keefe (fiddle), Kerry’s Jim Finucane (button accordian), and Galawayman Brian Clancy (whistle, sean nos singing)

This devotion to the old tunes and regional styles of playing carried over once John picked up the button accordian at the age of 17. Since then he has shared the stage with such Irish legends as Kevin Burke, Oisin Mac Diarmada and the Scahill and Howley Brothers (of We Banjo 3 fame). He can be found performing with John Dady, as well as sessions all over the region.
